22:55 yqxud Hi
23:26 hexanna hi
March 24
5:51 yqxud i was viewing your joseki viewwer and i found it did not have many standard continuations particularly for 5-4 low intrusion – even if kata doesn't like it id like to have it there as it is popular.
23:17 hexanna I didn't want to inject my opinions of which lines were important or not. that's katahex's gentle nudge to not play those standard continuations, I guess
23:35 yqxud I find it fascinating since often katahex says those are good, maybe the rest of the board often just happens to be in a state where the standard moves are best.
March 25
2:57 inaccessibles gaining territory is something i dont understand
2:59 inaccessibles hmmm now i realize why it is good for blue to make these two intrusions in the north corner
2:59 inaccessibles it seems like blue is winning bc blue has a lot of space while red put their stones in a line which is ineffective
12:50 hexanna red is doing just fine here, those red stones near blue's edge are an efficient use of moves
13:25 yqxud Big boards are just different
13:26 yqxud Those intrusions are good because katahex likes them, and also because it’s a 2nd and 3rd row ladder escape,

1:37 yqxud I wonder why I cant play ab25, now I know
1:47 yqxud I think I lost most value of the corner because of that
March 31
0:50 yqxud Oh well, 2/4 corners lost
1:14 yqxud Salvage every small piece
1:58 hexanna I feel like red v8 was better than u8, keeps the big red group connected

2:14 yqxud Sometimes I don’t have the heart to play out these games, if I lose in the opening there’s still hundreds of moves to go

20:13 yqxud Your kata evaluation for 11x11 and 12x12 seem to show a huge blue advantage, what percentage do you think qualifies as a fair opening move for humans?
20:15 hexanna that is because katahex can play nearly perfectly on those sizes. I think stone-fraction space is better for quantifying fairness, and anything between 0.4-0.6 stones is fair
20:15 hexanna that is what's used for https://www.hexwiki.net/index.php/Swap_rule#Size_15 sizes 15 and 19
20:17 hexanna I use 0.36-0.64 stones for the opening explorer for completeness.
20:20 yqxud When did you decide to stop? Did you set katahex at a certain depth or just let it evaluate
20:22 yqxud I think 11x11 is small enough where I do prefer playing blue honestly
20:22 hexanna there's a max depth of 11 moves, but some moves are cutoff earlier if they are less "important" (contain more suboptimal moves). I wanted to make it bigger, but it becomes too much data to load on the website

3:12 yqxud New chat
3:12 yqxud Dang I don't like this move but there's nothing else I can think of
3:13 yqxud I feel like I screwed up two of the corners
